When are new_____added?

Posted by Jon | Announcements | Friday 26 February 2010 4:10 pm

Some of you may wonder when I add new plugins to the Plugin Index, or utilities, downloads, ImagesByName packs…anything really.  There’s quite a lot to keep track of, so I understand it’s not feasible to scour multiple pages on a daily basis.

I just wanted to make a quick note that my Twitter notifications only include new or edited posts and pages.  So, if I add anything, it will send a Tweet with a direct link to the page.  All that’s left is to look for the most recently dated item.

If you haven’t already added me on Twitter…do so now!  Stay in the loop!

A few new things (and not so new) about Media Browser.

Posted by Jon | HTPC | Wednesday 20 January 2010 10:52 am

Between life and the ImagesByName Project, I have not had as much time as I’d like to keep up with what’s going on with HTPCs or Media Center…event Media Browser, for that matter.  However, I did trip over a couple of things this past weekend that I thought were interesting and I thought I’d pass them along.  You may or may not already know about them, but for me, they sort of fell outside my radar.

Media Browser is moving to a more modular design which has pushed its developers to create plugins for some custom functions and themes.  Most of us are familiar with the Vanilla 2.0 theme as a plugin as it sort of paved the way, but since then, there have been quite a few additions that you may not know about, or are just unfamiliar with.

I first want to go ahead and give the list of available plugin sources. These are the heart of where you get the available plugins for Media Browser.  I will also explain what is available at each (at the time of this post anyway):

Another plugin index rework is in progress.

Posted by Jon | Announcements | Friday 2 October 2009 8:10 am

In order to make things even easier for you, I’ve decided to rework the plugin index once again.  I am now using a table format that allows auto-sorting by simply clicking on each column header.  I have just updated the main plugin table with the new one and the remaining tables are being worked on now.  I hope to have most of it finished today.

I have also removed the tiny thumbnail images in place of a text link for viewing screenshots.  This helps tremendously in load times.  It also keeps the table from dynamically resizing during loading.  You’ll also notice a few other changes here and there, but primarily my reason for changing was so that you can easily find the latest plugins added by sorting with the “Added” column.  Right now, everything will start with a base date of 10/1/09, but as we move along you’ll find this to be quite useful.

Hope the new layout is beneficial to you!  Check it out!

Update:

I just noticed that yesterday happened to be the site’s busiest day since its inception.  Thanks for visiting!

I decided not to wait…new plugin index!

Posted by Jon | Announcements | Monday 28 September 2009 10:02 am

It’s not finished yet, but I do have a little more there than what was on the old plugin index page. I didn’t see any reason to hold it back when I thought it could really help you out now. I will be adding the additional sections throughout the next week or two, so continue to check back to see what’s been added.  The location is the same…the content is new!

I have also added a contact form at the bottom of the index so that you can submit your own plugins and/or corrections to the list.  Let me know what you think or how I can improve it!

New releases!

Posted by Jon | HTPC | Sunday 25 January 2009 9:45 pm

As I sit at work waiting for a couple of jobs to finish so we can begin some server maintenance, I decided to see if there wasanything new in the plugin department and I scored.

First, Media Browse just released 2.0.70, which is mostly a bug fix version.  You can read more about it here, as well as download.

There’s also an Internet Radio Plugin using ShoutCast here.  I don’t listen to music much, except in the car on my way to work and home, but this looks pretty cool.  I may install it just to have the option.  German and English versions are available.
