meta<browser/> logoI was lucky enough to be included in a very small group of alpha testers for the upcoming meta 2.0 metadata manager – ‘lucky’ being an understatement as this application is going to astound you.

My initial look came around 2 months ago and it was pretty rough around the edges and had very little functionality.  I saw this change dramatically over the following few weeks, up until today, where it is finally available in a state that I have been allowed to write about.

I will be releasing a MetaBrowser 2.0 preview on Friday.

For the past couple of months, I have been quite busy testing and writing a preview on the upcoming Meta<Browser /> 2.0 application that has been under rapid development.  All I will say is that I have been continuously awed by what I have seen.

Check here on Friday for an extremely detailed look at where this application is and what it is capable of.

Some things of note for the week.

Posted by Jon | HTPC | Thursday 2 April 2009 9:48 am

As I have undergone a massive Active Directory cleanup attempt at work, I’m finding the time I had to spend on my blog dwindle away to nothing.  As I have just finished a minor stage, I thought I would spend a few minutes catching up on what I’ve missed over the past week and post it here (in case you have missed it too).

SecondRun.tv has a new release with a lot of changes.  Searching, changes to the layout of TV episodes, and customized user settings using web-based tokens (more to come on that in the future) are the highlights.  Get the latest version now!

The Media Browser team have a new landing page and it looks very nice.  I expect more to come as time progresses.

Finally, another version of Meta</Browser> has been released with more functionality geared towards the TV side.  Be sure to grab thatDiscuss it over at the Media Browser forum.

That’s all I have for now.   Unfortunately, I don’t know how involved I’ll be in my site over the coming weeks.  Rest assure though, if anything major breaks, I’ll be sure to let it out.  Until then, don’t be a stranger and continue to check back!

New beta for Meta Browser.

Posted by Jon | HTPC | Tuesday 24 March 2009 11:50 am

Additional TV support has been added in today’s beta release of Meta Browser.  This release also includes a few bug fixes.

Sorry it’s been a bit dead as of late.  This week my system’s tech is on vacation, so I’m pulling double-duty.  I’ve also been working on getting another update of ImagesByName actors out.  I may get one out a little earlier this week since I’m getting a bit burned out on it.

Hopefully I’ll have more time and news to share as the week progresses…

MetaBrowser has added limited TV series editing.

Posted by Jon | Announcements | Thursday 19 March 2009 9:45 am

As work has been focused on implementing TV series into MetaBrowser, a new version has been released adding limited TV series editing.  This means that only the actual series.xml can be edited.  Individual season and episode will be in the near future.

You can download the newest version, which also contains some additional minor bugfixes, here.

I will also be releasing a new update to ImagesByName either today or tomorrow.  I’m not really waiting on anything…just deciding on whether I want to stop at 20MB or go up to 30.  I’m at around 240 new and fixed images right now and it’s coming in at about 17MB, so we’ll see.  If I get tired of it I’ll go ahead and post.
