The Media Browser team released Media Browser v2.2.3 (Pegasus) yesterday and I didn’t even notice it. It primarily consisted of some performance improvements and bug fixes. You can read all about it here.

Latest releases are always available from the Google Code page, here.

A preview of meta<browser/> 2.0.

meta<browser/> logoI was lucky enough to be included in a very small group of alpha testers for the upcoming meta 2.0 metadata manager – ‘lucky’ being an understatement as this application is going to astound you.

My initial look came around 2 months ago and it was pretty rough around the edges and had very little functionality.  I saw this change dramatically over the following few weeks, up until today, where it is finally available in a state that I have been allowed to write about.

Thunderblade coming…in one more week.

Posted by Jon | HTPC | Monday 15 February 2010 7:52 am

I knew it was coming, but for those of you waiting on pins-and-needles for the Thunderblade release are going to have to wait another week.  A few things are taking the devs a bit more time to finish up than initially thought.  It’s a very good move since these aren’t the type of things you sweep under the rug for later – primarily dealing with resource usage and playback annoyances.

The new release date is for next Monday, February 22nd.

Quick tip from Jas (Soultaker) on Diamond 0.3.

Posted by Jon | HTPC | Saturday 13 February 2010 8:24 am

I try to keep up with as many sites and blogs as I can, but eventually, some fall off of the radar.  Usually it’s because they post sporadically or change their focus and my interest isn’t in the material.  Jas Manghera (Soultaker), a senior developer for Media Browser and creator of the popular Diamond theme, has one of those blogs that fell off my radar.  Of course, there’s a perfectly good reason for it…he’s too busy to post as he’s burning up Visual Studio.

I just decided to go visit his blog this morning as I caught a link to it while browsing the new Media Browser site design and came across a nice bit of info that I was unaware of regarding the upcoming Diamond 0.3.  It now features the ability to display individual backdrops for each of your media entries on the Extended Home Screen by using the ImagesByName General folder.

I’m not going to waste time or space writing about it here.  Jas explains it in detail on his blog…complete with screenshots.
