OK, I don’t do many movie reviews…none, actually.  However, I saw this over the weekend as I was sucked in by all the hype and have to ask those of you who also saw Paranormal Activity,

“Did it really scare you?”

Sorry, but when I wasn’t fighting to stay awake, I was only marginally entertained by Micah.  I knew it was going to be a Blair Witch type of film, but the fact that it was all filmed using a handheld is pretty much where the comparison ends, in my opinion.

I was really looking forward to seeing this, but disappointment would be too kind of a word to describe the time spent watching this…and the ending?  Crap icing on a two-layer turd cake.  Now, I do respect the fact that this movie was made on no budget and became an overnight success despite of what I think about it…I could definitely not do better.  My wonder comes from how it “wowed” so many viewers.  Are the raves just from a different target audience?  I’m a 36-year old male, so maybe I’m not someone that was supposed to be thrilled by this movie.  My wife, dad and uncle also saw it with me and they thought it sucked too.

If any of you were entertained by this movie, I’m genuinely happy for you.  I really wanted to be, but maybe I was expecting something else…I don’t know.  There is another film out that I thought may be similar to this one that I really wanted to see, but am now second-thinking…The Fourth Kind.  Reviews are not very kind to this one, but I have never put much into reviews…I just like to read them.  I try to go in with an open mind for each movie I see, but I do find that my prior expectation level determines whether or not I actually like a film.  It would probably benefit me to think every film is going to be garbage beforehand.

Anyway, I’ll ask again, did Paranormal Activity scare you?  Or, did you at least enjoy the film?
