As most of you have probably noticed (due to my traffic reports), the ImagesByName packages I host show up as unavailable when you attempt to download them.  DropBox not only restricts how much you can store, but also the bandwidth allotted to an account.  My bandwidth has long been wiped out (the base file is 200MB, so it didn’t take long).

I’ll try and find an alternative source, but with nearly 600 hits alone coming from Hack7MC.com, I don’t know if I can supply the bandwidth to support all those who want to download.  I would suggest anyone that knows how, to seed a torrent (I’ve never really fool around with it enough to know how) and I can post it in the Downloads section.  This would require many of you to participate, however.  If someone is willing, please contact me.

Update:

I found some free hosting that boasts unlimited bandwidth via FileMonster.net.  It does have one of those ad-laden pages where you have to use CAPTCHA sort of like RapidShare, but it’s better than nothing.  I’m pretty certain it’s going to be a bit slow since that’s how they try and force you into a premium plan, but unless I get some torrenting going on, it’s the best I can do.  I will provide them as additional links on the downloads page.

Update to update:

I guess I should have read the features of my webhost, because I was upgraded (for free) to unlimited file transfer bandwidth last year.  I never needed DropBox to begin with.  I’m in the process of uploading the IBN packages now, so I will replace the links when they complete.  In the meantime, the alternate links do still work (although they are a little slow).

I have also received a generous offer from a registered user that will mirror these packages.  Despite the unlimited bandwidth, I may still take advantage of that to maintain decent download speeds for all of you.  These packages have been hit very hard this week.

  1. I would help seed if you went that route; bit torrent.

And thanks for the continued updates!

  2. Jon,

I sent you a message through the “contact me” link to the left.

  3. Thanks for hosting, I was one of the lucky ones to grab it early. Now to figure out how to make it work, I edited the xml file and put the folders in the right place but the images aren’t showing up in MB. Looking for a detailed tutorial, anyone?

    • The XML should be C:\programdata\mediabrowser\ImagesByName

You should then have the following folder structure:

      C:\Programdata\Mediabrowser\ImagesByName
      \People
      \Genre
      \Year
      \General
      \Studio

The individual actor folders (containing a folder.jpg each) go in the People folder. The other directories follow suit with their respective image types.

  4. Chris, are you using metabrowser or a similar program for metadata or just letting mediabrowser do it?

I downloaded the imagesbyname, followed all the steps at hack7mc.com, but they didn’t show up until I went into metabrowser and told it to download them. Maybe I did it wrong, which is possible, but those are the steps that I went through iirc

  5. I have mine on a ramdisk, and have it properly pointed there, would that affect imagesbyname in another way?

  6. Hi if you need another mirror for your files, just send me a mail :)
