Good Thanksgiving?
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving holiday. We did. A lot of food and little sleep with some crappy traveling always makes for a perfect holiday.
On the HTPC front, not much from me. I did have to reload my primary PC over the weekend, however. After running a script to fix some registry settings that prevented me from creating new Visual Studio C# projects, I found my system nearly unusable. A system restore fixed it, but my Windows came back as not genuine…although it was activated. It did give me a reason to switch to the 64-bit version though. I got a copy of Vista Ultimate x86 and x64 via a Microsoft survey promotion about a year ago. I can’t really tell a difference aside from being able to use my entire 4GB of memory now. I did notice a HUGE difference in network transfers between my 2008 Server x64 and edition of Vista (~35MB/s to ~110MB/s).
I’ve also been working on my applications page. I have pages outlining my systems and home theater equipment, so I thought I would make an additional page that gives links to the HTPC-related applications that I use along with links to where you can get them. I may complete it one day this week, but it’s really boring, so we’ll see. Other than that, myTV has a nice little promotion going on. Check it out and if you’re in the market for a new TV series plugin, then it may just be for you.
