The very last item for this review is, to me, about the best feature about the entire application – the drag-and-drop interface. I’m so partial to this because it is the layout that is most important to me. Having as much organized information on the screen at one time without being overcrowded allows me to do any tasks I need in the least amount of time possible. meta 2.0 now gives the user about as much control over the interface as they could possibly ask for.
There is no way for me to completely explain, in words, how the drag-and-drop interface works, so I have provided a short video that will hopefully give you insight to its strengths. Before viewing the video, I want to try and explain some of what you are about to see, however. The best I know how to tell it is that the meta 2.0 interface is divided up into ‘zones’. There are three (3) internal zones and four (4) external zones. The external zones line the four internal borders of the application and allow for any meta 2.0 window to be ‘docked’ along those respective borders. The internal zones also have their own ‘sub-zones’ where windows can be docked on any zone border, or take up the entire zone itself. The information tabs can be used to create new windows, or become tabs in other windows.
I know none of this makes sense to you, so please, watch the video! I have pre-arranged some windows differently than the default placement so that I can best show you the drag-and-drop feature. I also decided to throw in a few extra items that were note easily explain in words. You must allow popups from theHTPC.net as this video will open in a new window. It may be a little slow to start loading, so please be patient.
Hopefully, the drag-and-drop makes sense to you now and, if so, you can see what a terrific addition it is to an application of this kind. meta 2.0 is about fetching and storing information. meta 2.0 doesn’t just display this information to you…it allows you to present it!
In the time I’ve spent testing and reviewing this application, it has become clear to me that this is not an ‘upgrade’ to the currently available meta 1.0 application. meta 2.0 is completely rewritten from the ground up and has improved upon the old release in every way. The settings, interface configuration, monitoring, open plugin framework, etc. are all vastly improved and/or completely new. It is also completely possible, with the right configuration, to make meta 2.0 a set-and-forget application as it can automate all tasks it is capable of doing manually.
The systems I used meta 2.0 on were Windows Home Server, Windows 7 Professional x86 and Windows 7 Professional and Ultimate x64. No issues related to OS were found, so compatibility there should suit your needs.
Picking an HTPC front-end can be hard, but meta 2.0 makes picking a metadata manager simple.
I want to thank fatal for giving me the opportunity to test meta 2.0 and share this preview with all of you. Alpha testing software had never been a pleasure until now.

Technical difficulties required me to recreate the post, so comments were lost. Sorry.
I do want to answer the question that was asked (Martin P.) – a release date has not yet been set, but it can probably be measured in weeks.
Amazing. The new metabrowser is looking really cool. The subscription model really worries me a though.

Haha…….”donation”. Sorry but no, it’s not a donation if the only way to use his software is if you cough up the money. That’s called a subscription.
gut
I stopped reading after “application must be authenticated fopr use on every run”. That is just retarded
you wrote –> This, for all intensive purposes, is where the ‘brawn’ of the application lies.
S/B –> for all intents and purposes

Yep…proofreading sure doesn’t get everything :)
Thanks!
I keep my movies like so:
Name Year Type
I used your file-to-folder script so everything is tidy. But meta browser isn’t finding my movies. I have to remove the Year and Type and then it will work. Is their a way to configure this?
For example:
Aladdin 1992 720p.mkv
metabrowser can’t find this title, but will find just Aladdin.
Thanks
You will need to put everything not part of the title within closed brackets. So your folder name should read Aladdin [1992 720p]. You can also include the year in parenthesis, if you want Aladdin (1992) [720p] will also work. File names are not important for movies, so they do not need to be renamed.
These is all good and expensive… i prefer the free version or salami’s movie organizer(free), because always i collect the photos (covers and backdrop) manualy!
