Happy Holidays!…and other stuff.
Feels like it’s been forever since I posted anything. I suppose it has been in blog time. Oh well, it was Christmas time – you should have been spending time with family (or your new toys)!
Anyway, about the only thing that I have to report at this very moment is that the Media Browser (Video Browser) forum is currently down. I noticed it down some time yesterday and found that it will probably stay that way for the next few days. Apparently the server is toast and there will be downtime until it can be replaced and everything reloaded. There is a backup, but it only runs every 24 hours, so some posts will be lost.
Downloads are still available from the Google Code site for Media Browser. If you need technical assistance, you can try asking me here or take your question to theGreenButton.

Hi, your blog introduced me to mediabrowser, and I love it. But some of my shows aren’t displaying the right pictures or episode details. Is there a naming convention I have to use for episode and Show names? For example my “The Office” isn’t displaying pictures. Any thoughts? And keep up the great work!

Well, according to thetvdb.com, “The Office” follows one of two naming conventions. ” The Office (US)” and “The Office (UK)”. You’ll need to name your series folder one of those depending on which version you have (US or UK).
As a rule, if it doesn’t exist on thetvdb.com, it won’t show up in Media Browser (for TV anyway).
You may also want to try TVScout and download everything locally.

Hey Jon, thanks for the direction, I actually just discovered that last night so I spent some time renaming now everything works great. Now I have another issue, you may be able to help me out with. I have a folder called 720p Movies, and in that folder I have 3 folders, each with a movie. Initially I only had one folder, and when i selected 720p Movies, it would auto play that movie. But now I have 3 folders, and it is still auto playing the first movie. Any ideas? Do you need further clarification? Thanks.

Sounds like your cache is not updating. If you’re running the very latest beta, you can clear your cache from the settings. That will delete all images and metadata, but doesn’t take too long to repopulate.
Otherwise, you could try going into C:\ProgramData\MediaBrowser\Cache and delete the contents of the autoPlaylists folder. If that doesn’t work, I would just clear the cache and let it repopulate. Deleting anything more could possibly jack up your display preferences.
Turning off the entering of single folder items in the configuration could also do the trick. If it’s opened for a few seconds, it should detect the change and then you can turn that setting back on.

Thank Jon, that did the trick. Now for an audio question. I’m looking to purchase an audio receiver. My HTPC has spdif out. Some of my movies have audio encoded as Windows Media Audio 10 Professional, and Windows Media Audio 3. Can any receiver use these for surround sound?

Not real sure, although I know Pioneer had a VSX line a couple of years back that support WMA9. So, it would make sense to check whatever replaced that line of receiver. Unfortunately, I’ve never used WMA for anything, so I have no idea where support would best be found.
