A little just became a lot less.
I haven’t had much time to contribute to my site for a while now, but unfortunately things just took a turn for the worse. In case you didn’t know, my neck of the woods (Gwinnett Co. Georgia) has been pummeled by rain for a week straight now and flooding is massive. My home has not been affected by flooding, but my life has. My sons’ school/daycare is a disaster and my one of my in-law’s homes is under 4ft of water. We got away with a very slight roof leak, some basement water and a 100ft pine in our back yard has been struck by lightning. I have to get someone to take a look at it ASAP since it’s within 10ft of our home. Other than that, roads are closed everywhere and just getting anywhere is like maneuvering through a maze.
I’ve had to miss work this week to watch the kids, so it doesn’t leave me a whole lot of time for playing with Media Center stuff. Rain is forecast for the rest of the week, so it doesn’t look like things are getting much better.
When some sort of normalcy resumes, hopefully things here will too.

Hang in there, man. It took us two years to return to any semblance of normalcy after Katrina. The obvious thing is to keep yourselves safe and everything else will work itself out, no matter how gloomy it seems. Best of luck to you all, and here’s to hoping it doesn’t get much worse.

Thanks. We got away relatively unscathed though. Just a mile or two up the road from us is one of the most expensive subdivisions in the area and all you can see there are roof tops. Those people will have lost pretty much everything. We drove by there last night and I can’t imagine what that’s like. Dozens were just standing at the mouth of the subdivision, no doubt just looking on completely helpless.
I know we don’t stand in any real danger of flooding so I can only hope it subsides enough so that people in that kind of situation can begin putting their lives back together. It’s not Katrina here, by any means, but for many families I’m sure it’s not much different.
