ImagesByName updated.

Posted by Jon | HTPC | Friday 27 March 2009 11:56 am

I have just uploaded another update for ImagesByName.

I have included 155 new actor images and 86 reworked actor images for a total of 241 images.  This brings the ImagesByName project total (as well as my own if you download everything) to 4,141 actor images.  Download is 16MB.  Download is available on the downloads page (dated Mar. 27).  You can also do an update with your SVN client from the ImagesByName Project repository and get the images.

I had hoped for a much larger update, but with my systems technician on vacation this week, I was a lot busier at work than I usually am.  Plus, adding actors from TV didn’t get me near the number of new images I was expecting.  Still a decent total number of actors though.

Windows Home Server Power Pack 2.

Posted by Jon | Announcements | Thursday 26 March 2009 11:16 am

The Windows Home Server Power Pack 2 was apparently released on Tuesday.  Sorry I missed it, but I don’t use WHS and fail to keep up with it as much as you’d probably like.  The English version is currently available via Microsoft Updates with other languages available by the end of next month.  I also believe that Technet/MSDN subscribers can now download.

vmcPlayIt – New plugin.

Posted by Jon | HTPC | Wednesday 25 March 2009 3:17 pm

I didn’t even know this existed, but then again, I don’t own any extender hardware or a MediaSmart TV either.  Anyway, vmcPlayIt is the latest plugin from eluttmann over at the Green Button forums.

vmcPlayIt is an all-in-one VMC client for the PlayOn media server software that provides Netflix WatchNow, Hulu, YouTube and many broadcast stations that host online streaming content (like FOX, CBS, etc.).  It connects to this server and provides a one-stop location for all streaming needs!

32-bit and 64-bit versions are available on the official site.

New version of Salami’s Movie Organizer (SMO)

Posted by Jon | HTPC | Tuesday 24 March 2009 12:59 pm

I’m nearly a week late, but there is a new version of Salami’s Movie Organizer available.  Nothing in the release notes other than “several bug fixes”, but I’m sure it had to be worthwhile since this application doesn’t get updated often.

You can get the latest release here.

UPDATE:

It looks like at some point the ability add/remove actors was implemented.  I had begged for that for months and it is now there!  I still use SMO as my first run for metadata and then update it with Meta Browser.  This only makes things better!

New beta for Meta Browser.

Posted by Jon | HTPC | Tuesday 24 March 2009 11:50 am

Additional TV support has been added in today’s beta release of Meta Browser.  This release also includes a few bug fixes.

Sorry it’s been a bit dead as of late.  This week my system’s tech is on vacation, so I’m pulling double-duty.  I’ve also been working on getting another update of ImagesByName actors out.  I may get one out a little earlier this week since I’m getting a bit burned out on it.

Hopefully I’ll have more time and news to share as the week progresses…
